Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Review may contain spoilers
After playing this game for a full 8 hours I was able to beat it. Overall, I do have to say this game was great, and I can see many people calling it the best in the franchise so far.
I remember the first time playing Resident Evil 1 years ago, the slow paced dark gloom made the game that much scarier. Honestly, most horror games tend to focus on jump scares which can get extremely old, after around one or two jump scares. However, this game is different, from the bone chilling hunt of Daddy "Jack Baker" all the way down to the dynamic ending with grandma. This game fights to get under your skin and when it does it will stay there. No matter how many times I died the idea of what was to come always kept that fresh petrifying sense of fear.

What I found amazing was the change to first person. The first person style changes the gameplay in a way that die hard RE fans won't be used to. I won't say its a bad change, but the game still caries fine, and in my opinion the style works very well. No matter if you playing the VR version or the normal version the first person makes thing that much more terrifying. Now, I will add because this game being in first person every now and then I would get killed simply because I got stuck on something that I wasn't able to see because of the prospective.

With the new generation of gamming the graphics are just amazing. Let me be straight forward THIS GAME IS BUEATIFUL!!!! the problem thus far in the gaming industry hasn't been the gameplay it has been developers not pushing the hardware to its full potiential, but RE7 does just this hands down. there were moments in the game where I would watch scripted moments or just walking through the Bakers house I almost forget its a game. And I don't want to sound pesimestic because I am a RE fan at heart, but it was amazing to finally get a game where the acting wasn't overly corny or felt like it was forced. For example take Ethen, a seemingly young man on the search for his wife. his reasons are clear cut. His cries and pain felt so real. Putting myself in his shoes, apmplified the horror all the more, reguardless of this being a video game. Now as a side note at times, some scripted moments or even cinematics almost felt or sounded like something out of Metal Gear Solid.

As I progressed in the game there was something I kept asking myself, "where does this all fit into the RE world?" and when I asked myself this I started to realized I meant both story and gameplay. Looking at it in a different persepctive the game same still carried all of RE tropes we have come to love from; the guns down to fighting the same baddie over and over again only this time bigger and uglier. and as for the story there are still a lot of questions left over but the tie-in with "Redfield" and countless readings dropping hints about the pass game we can tell that this game more likely happens after part 6. as I said before all and all this was a great game. and I cant wait to see what's next for the series.
